IN OFFICE WHITENING TREATMENT

Do you ever feel self conscious about smiling showing your teeth in public or in pictures? Well if you have answered yes to this question there is an amazing In Office Whitening system that I use that is called Wicked Whitening. Wicked meaning awesome results! Most clients see at least 4 shades whiter (or even more) with just one treatment.

The first step in this procedure is to use a shade guide to match the client’s tooth shade before the whitening procedure. I always do this with the client holding the mirror and we decide together what their actual shade is or baseline. This is then documented in their chart. Client is given protective eye wear for the UV light. The next stage is spraying the teeth to be whitened with Wicked White Pretreatment spray and letting it sit on the teeth for 30 seconds. This step allows the pores in the enamel to open. Next is the polish with plain pumice and water to further open the pores of the enamel to allow the teeth to become whiter. Client rinses with water and the technician then flosses to remove any debris between the teeth. Next vitamin E is applied to the lips to keep them moist and hydrated during the procedure. A retractor will be inserted to keep the lips out of the way during the procedure. More vitamin E is applied to the gums just above the teeth to be whitened. This helps protect the gums should any whitening product seep onto the gums. 16% hydrogen peroxide is applied with a small brush on the teeth that are being whitened. The next step is an UV light is positioned close to the teeth to process the hydrogen peroxide and enable whitening. After 20-30 minutes, retractor is removed and client rinses with warm water. More vitamin E is applied to the lips and retractor is reinserted. More vitamin E is applied to the gums. Carbonide is then applied with a small brush and the UV light is activated for a full 30 minutes.

After the client has rinsed we do the achieved shade together once again. This is documented and post op instructions are not to eat or drink anything that could stain your teeth for 48 hours. ( Think ketchup, blueberries, soy sauce, red wine, tea, coffee and etc.) The reason being is after your teeth are whitened the enamel pores remain open from 24-48 hours in which case if you have something that could stain your teeth it will stain your new pearly whites! I always provide a sensodyne toothpaste sample in the event of any sensitivity. With this product I have had zero complaints of sensitivity during or after the procedure. What the client may notice is their teeth will dull over time but if they come in every 4 to 6 months for a booster whitening treatment their new white smile can become even whiter and be maintained. The nicest thing to see in my clients that have had their teeth whitened is their increased CONFIDENCE! Now that is worthwhile!
